Cath was only 52, last year she was complaining of a pain in her shoulder which was treated as a strain. By October it was obvious that physio was not helping and she had a lot of weight loss. She was quickly diagnosed with lung and oesophageal cancer and treatment started. Within 6 months we had lost her. She died very peacefully on Wednesday 27th March 2008 in Trinity Hospice Blackpool. The dignified care and treatment she recieved from the hopsice staff allowed Cath to let go and be cared for in safety and without pain.

Cath was the very best friend anyone could have, she was a bundle of laughter and fun and went the extra mile for the people she cared about. All of her professional life was involved in working alongside adults who have learning disabilities; helping them find employment, enjoy the comforts of their homes and get the support they needed to live a full and energetic life.

She was my best friend - no matter what help and support I needed she was there for me, her loss in my life is hard to express, we laughted, cried and worked together and her death leaves a great hole in my heart.

My greatest thanks is that at her final moments of awareness, she was surrounded by the people she loved and was without pain.
Cath was smiling a lot prior to her death, it is my hope that she was being welcomed into a better life by her beloved Mum and others who passed before her.

I thank God for allowing me to have known Cath, I will miss her beyond words but am greatful that she is no longer in pain. She was so strong in coping with her illness and her sense of humour was never far from the surface, even in the darkest days.

May she rest in peace, knowing that she has had a wonderful impact on the world she has left. Many people are so much better off for having known her and been loved by her generous heart.
You will be forever in my heart Cath...thank you
Roseina

my aunty

She was my aunty, my friend and my hero.
she spent her life helping people and even in the end all she could think about was other peoples problems and what she could do to help.

i miss her laugh and her smile and her words of wisdom she was always there for me and my daughter and was loved in return.

i even moved to blackpool so i could feel her near and it has helped me with the greif even though i still look for her "footprints in the sand" and i always will!

I know your pain

My thoughts are with you at this sad time I lost my husband in the same way 12 months ago, there are no words that can help the way you feel the one thing that has kept me going is that he is no longer in pain and now in a better place.
Stay strong for Catherine's memory thinking of you always Dawn x x
